• Lost ball

Out for a walk today and this trail runs behind a golf course. In the summer there is enough of trees and bushes in between that if someone was on the course they wouldn’t notice you on the path. This time of year though things have thinned out and there was one pair on a cart who saw me for sure.

It’s been a while since I found any golf balls walking through, but there were two lost that I saw today. One was just peeking out of some leaves, the other was more interesting.

It looks like someone may have set it up here on this stump, but this trail doesn’t get a lot of traffic so I’m hoping and telling myself that it simply landed here on a little pedestal.

  • Old New Orleans Map

New Orleans holds a special place on my heart. Due to some chance circumstances it’s where my Wife and I were married. On a river boat, on the Mississippi River, in New Orleans.

Back a number of years ago I was trying to find something to put on my office wall and ran across someone who made a frame for an old map. That game me the idea and I found this old map of New Orleans and had it printed. Then I made this rough frame to hang it in.

It’s about 3′ x 2′ I believe and it always brings me a bit of happiness when I look at it during the day. New Orleans is a cool city regardless but thinking about it being where our marriage started makes it a little magical.

  • Partial lunar eclipse

This morning there was a total lunar eclipse. I was out early ready with my tripod and phone going to get a picture. Things were looking pretty good. The partial eclipse started and I had a good view from my back deck.

Not long after though the clouds came in. For a while I thought it was still ok as there were lots of breaks in the clouds so the moon could peek through.

Unfortunately those breaks stopped happening and I didn’t get to see the total eclipse. This picture early in the partial turned out ok for my phone though.

  • Bridge at night

The time has changed so it gets dark much earlier now. May have to do some work to get good at night photography.

This bridge crosses a river to go into a marsh land trail. It was hard to get a good angle without branches or bushes in the way. It is a beautiful night though with the moon and stars out and warm.

  • Train mural

This may be my favourite mural that was added as part of this years town mural festival. Though we don’t have any trains anymore the station here used to have the town busy.

The main rain line has been turned into a multi use trail now that I spend a fair bit of time on.

The train mural by @pekingdon is giving a nod to that part of the towns history.

  • Hometown center court

This town logo must be a relatively new addition to the outdoor basketball court. It’s been a little bit since I’ve been down to it, but I don’t remember it being there last time.

My 13 year old and I took the three year old down to the playground while the older played around here on the court.

  • Moon, Jupiter, Clouds, & Light

The sky was looking really cool tonight. I love the textures the clouds have with the moon and Jupiter in behind.

My previous team at work we named Jupiter and so this planet always makes me have good memories of great people.

  • On the way down

Made it out for a decent bike ride this afternoon. It both started and ended with some good climbing but that means in the middle there was a part where there was a lot of going down.

As I get older I’m more cautious but still love the speed of flying downhill on my bike. I certainly ride my brakes more then I did as a teenager though with the occasional thought crossing my mind of how bad it would be to take a spill.

This is the view a little ways down the start of the decline.

  • Neighbourhood flowers

Flowers aren’t something I know very much about, but I do enjoy seeing them. For the past few weeks I’ve noticed these growing at a few homes near by. They look like a pink daisy to me.

  • Zeus

As I was on my way up to bed I realized I hadn’t taken any pictures today at all. Our cat Zeus was waiting for me on the stairs so I took a quick one of him.

The lighting wasn’t good and you can’t really see his blue crossed eyes, but he’s still a handsome boy.
