Jelly fish
We met up with some friends who are also on vacation in the area at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
We’ve been here before but most of the kids don’t remember much of it. I remembered the jelly fish.

Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat
We left West Virginia this morning and now we’ll be slowly making our way home. We stopped in Harrisburg Pennsylvania on our way to our next destination.
While here we took a sightseeing river boat cruise. This is the paddle wheel that was moving us along.
I have a soft spot for riverboats as my wife and I were married on one by its Captain years ago.

Green algae
We took a little walk through Harpers Ferry again today. We walked down the Shenandoah Canal which was bright green with algae.

-
Lily pads
Today our plans didn’t quite work out as we hoped, but we still had a fun day. We explored a bit of Fredrick Maryland.
Part of it we walked along Carol Creek Park downtown which is really nice. I’d never seen so many lily pads growing together like this before.

Luray Caverns
Today we visited Luray Caverns in Virginia. This was something I was looking forward to and it didn’t disappoint.
I don’t know if it goes back to watching movies like The Goonies when I was young but the idea of exploring caves or caverns always seemed like a great adventure. Thankfully these large caverns made it easy so I didn’t have to do any rock climbing or anything really risky at all. The walk way is all paved and there are hand rails in places. But still seeing this unique bit of nature was really cool and interesting.

Capital Wheel
Up early today for some fun. One of the things our youngest daughter had asked to do this trip was to ride one of the large touristy Ferris wheels. We intended to do one in New Jersey but it was hazy the whole time there so we decided not to.
One stop we did today was at National Harbor Maryland just a little outside Washington DC. This is where the Capital Wheel is. I don’t think the view is quite as good as what we would have had looking towards the NYC skyline, but it was still really nice. You could see the Washington Monument in the distance.

Harpers Ferry train bridge
We settled into our place in West Virginia and went to explore the Historic town of Harpers Ferry.
It is a beautiful area and has connections to the Appalachian Trail which we walked some on. It felt very hot out or I would have liked to have walked some more.
The train bridge was one of the highlights for me. We could walk across it, close to where the tracks go right through the mountain.

-
Lady Liberty
As we were heading on to our next stop of our road trip vacation we stopped into Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ.
It’s a really nice, and at least while we were there today, quiet spot. It gives a view of NYC and the Statue of Liberty from a different angle. In the past we’ve hopped on the Staten Island ferry to get a view of her, but you’re still quite far. This park gets you pretty close.
Even though we had a good view I used the touristy binoculars that were along the water to try and get a better look. I thought this picture through one of the lens was kind of neat.

New York Public Library
The lions out front of the New York Public Library are called Patience and Fortitude. It felt like I needed both today, but didn’t have them.
I like New York City a lot but it’s a city I’d like to visit with just my wife, or friends. Having our whole family including a 3.5 year old was exhausting. Walked a bunch and a great deal of it with him on my shoulders.

Paterson NJ, Great falls
On a road trip with the family. Got settled in to our first real stop a little outside of New York City. We went and visited these waterfalls today.
